Purpose
Demonstrate troubleshooting across applications, databases and infrastructure dependencies.
Business scenario
A fictional business application (lab scenario) experiences errors affecting users. This lab investigates the application, its logs and its database to find root cause.
Objectives
- Investigate application logs to trace failures.
- Run SQL queries to inspect and diagnose data issues.
- Manage application incidents through resolution.
- Coordinate release / change follow-up.
- Produce a root-cause analysis.
Environment & scope
- Sample business application (lab)
- SQL database with test data
- Application and system logs
- Incident and RCA templates
Interview & discussion questions
- How do you trace an application error from symptom to root cause?
- What SQL checks help confirm whether data is the problem?
- How do you separate an application issue from an infrastructure issue?
- What makes a root-cause analysis genuinely useful?
- How would you handle an incident caused by a recent release?
This project is currently marked PLANNED. Implementation details, evidence and documentation will be added here as the build progresses — nothing is shown as complete before it is.
