Business-application support simulation covering logs, SQL investigation, incidents, releases and root-cause analysis.

Application SupportSQLLogsIncident ManagementRCATroubleshooting

Purpose

Demonstrate troubleshooting across applications, databases and infrastructure dependencies.

Business scenario

A fictional business application (lab scenario) experiences errors affecting users. This lab investigates the application, its logs and its database to find root cause.

Objectives

  • Investigate application logs to trace failures.
  • Run SQL queries to inspect and diagnose data issues.
  • Manage application incidents through resolution.
  • Coordinate release / change follow-up.
  • Produce a root-cause analysis.

Environment & scope

  • Sample business application (lab)
  • SQL database with test data
  • Application and system logs
  • Incident and RCA templates

Interview & discussion questions

  • How do you trace an application error from symptom to root cause?
  • What SQL checks help confirm whether data is the problem?
  • How do you separate an application issue from an infrastructure issue?
  • What makes a root-cause analysis genuinely useful?
  • How would you handle an incident caused by a recent release?

This project is currently marked PLANNED. Implementation details, evidence and documentation will be added here as the build progresses — nothing is shown as complete before it is.
