Purpose

Bridge traditional enterprise IT operations into professional Azure infrastructure support.

Business scenario

A fictional organisation (lab scenario) runs workloads on Azure and needs day-to-day infrastructure support. This lab builds and operates that environment to practise cloud support tasks.

Objectives

  • Deploy and manage Azure virtual machines and networking.
  • Configure network security groups and access control.
  • Apply RBAC for least-privilege administration.
  • Set up Azure Monitor alerts and dashboards.
  • Troubleshoot connectivity and resource issues.

Environment & scope

  • Azure subscription (lab)
  • Virtual machines and virtual networks
  • NSGs and RBAC assignments
  • Azure Monitor and Log Analytics

Interview & discussion questions

  • How do NSGs and Azure Firewall differ in what they control?
  • How would you design RBAC for a small operations team?
  • What metrics and alerts matter most for VM health?
  • How would you troubleshoot a VM that is unreachable?
  • How does Azure Monitor help connect infrastructure to incidents?

This project is currently marked PLANNED. Implementation details, evidence and documentation will be added here as the build progresses — nothing is shown as complete before it is.
