Purpose
Demonstrate operational resilience and recovery capability.
Business scenario
A fictional business (lab scenario) must protect its systems and data against failure. This lab designs and tests backup and recovery for those systems.
Objectives
- Design a backup strategy against defined RTO/RPO targets.
- Perform and validate restore testing.
- Author recovery runbooks.
- Simulate service-continuity and failover scenarios.
- Document recovery outcomes and gaps.
Environment & scope
- Backup tooling (lab)
- Protected workloads and data sets
- Restore test procedures
- Recovery runbooks
Interview & discussion questions
- What is the difference between RTO and RPO, and how do they drive design?
- Why is an untested backup not a reliable backup?
- How would you prioritise systems during a recovery scenario?
- What belongs in a good recovery runbook?
- How do you balance backup cost against recovery requirements?
This project is currently marked PLANNED. Implementation details, evidence and documentation will be added here as the build progresses — nothing is shown as complete before it is.
